The client needed a website as well as a back-end app that could be used by three different tiers of user with central control and management. Workflows needed to be kept simple and fast so that the small secretariat wouldn't be overloaded.

We carried out a multi stakeholder workshop in Geneva followed by detailed analysis and a full design proposal. We then developed a custom PHP web application for enhanced performance and future adaptability. This used the Yii2 framework to enhance developer productivity resulting in a simple but fast infrastructure that always loads quickly.

Web app users include senior staff at organisations such as the UN, government ambassadors, and business leaders across the world. When IGC first approached us, they had a WordPress site that was reaching its limits, had no facility for sophisticated workflows and poor performance. One of our main aims was that the site gave a great user experience. Cue clean code that responds quickly to inputs and changes in filters.

You might have noticed the site is fast on every page, even search pages. We established an advanced, framework-based back-end, built on the Yii2 MVC PHP framework. We wanted to ensure site managers could effortlessly oversee content, list events, and distribute resources in a structured and easy to use way which was especially important give the global user base. Aligned with the current branding, we revamped the styling for the digital space. Our design and UX team created a prototype, outlining user flows. These were shared with the client, allowing them to experience our ideas and view the designs as a user would. With the site being used by so many people across the world (seven worldwide hubs), it is important to use clear and simple signposting in the design.
